Rehoboth Calgary Region offers individualized Residential, Vocational and Relief services to clients with a variety of developmental disabilities. Some clients may also have complex needs, such as medical or psychological support needs.
There are 7 homes in Calgary and one in nearby Airdrie, serving 22 Residential clients. Some of the goals being worked on in the Residential program include learning home life skills such as meal preparation; learning social skills for relationship building; and building independence in community settings. Clients are involved in recreation activities of their choice, such as Special Olympics or LEARN programs. They are also involved in their communities, by attending local community events, church services, and volunteering. This past summer, two clients played in Rehoboth Calgary’s annual golf tournament. Residential homes enjoying hosting different events throughout the year; BBQ’s, hockey & pizza nights, Fall costume party, Easter and Christmas celebrations inviting friends and peers from other programs.
The Vocational program currently serves 28 clients in a variety of activities. The Vocational program offers in-house contract opportunities for clients to participate in building work-related skills. Clients also participate in accessing the community, such as local libraries, recreation facilities, and public services. Group devotions and exercises are offered each morning. Individualized programs ensure clients are working on skills that are both beneficial and relevant to them, and build independence. Group outings to the Calgary Zoo, Canada Olympic Park, Calaway Park, Heritage Park, and other special events facilitate social interaction and community inclusion. There are opportunities for clients to participate in arts and crafts, sports, music and more. The Vocational program offers a monthly hot lunch program which is prepared each month by Vocational client. Each summer the program also hosts a Stampede Breakfast, with pancakes, country music, and a western-themed photo booth for clients and their families.
Relief Services will provide services to families with an individual who has a physical or developmental challenge or with a sensory impairment by providing supports in the family’s home, with a host family. Relief Services will strive to meet the family’s relief requirements for short term, vacation and emergency needs.
